Marks clear to legible. The engraving clear. Each candlesticks comes with a now detached wood base resting on four pad feet; with some residue of filling still attached underneath. The Carter pair: slightly smaller with Ionic capital. Small nicks to ridges and pitting on plain sections. . One base with part of the wood underside still attached. One nozzle with bruise to sleeve. Light scratching on the nozzles upper part from wax removal. One of the stem with light bruising and pin dents to the upper part of the column. Both nozzles marked. The Cripps pair: one with solder repair to junction of base to column plinth with small corresponding rip. Some pitting and scratching on the plinth near garlands. Solder repair at junction of column to plinth. The other with some pitting on column. Both nozzles unmarked and both candlesticks rock very slightly.
