A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This lacquer screen is in overall excellent condition. There are the inevitable minor dents, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. Some minor warping to the panels which are lightly bowed. Some vertical shrinkage cracks to the groundwood. The decoration refreshed. Horizontal hairline cracks to the lacquer which is visible under light but largely obscured by the decoration. The hinges replaced with modern brass hinges. Otherwise structurally sound and ready to place.
