Lot Essay

The delicately hammered and gilt surfaces of this elegant lampadaire are characteristic of the mid-20th Century designs of Maison Ramsay, who became renowned as specialists in lighting and furniture in an sophisticated ‘Art Deco’- inspired style. The firm’s designer in the 1960-‘70s, Françoise See, incorporated various luxurious and finely worked materials in her designs such as lacquer, steel, slate, marble and glass, which could be seen in their Rue Faubourg Saint-Honore showrooms.
