The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas is not lined. The paint layer is stable and under a clear varnish that has slightly yellowed with age. There is some surface soiling to the recto and verso of the canvas. There are some scattered minor areas of pigment loss and flaking. Inspected under ultraviolet light. No apparent inpainting. The work can be hung in its present state and is offered with a wood frame. Please note that Christie's does not guarantee the condition of frames.
