The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall with some rubbing and light tarnish to the ormolu, and some areas of light pitting primarily around the upper rim. The gilding with a strong tone. With some slight dirt build up in the crevices. With some visible seams to the ormolu ring and an old, small break near one foot, not readily visible. With another small, old repaired break to the lower portion of one handle. As was typical in the 18th century, the vase was originally much larger and cut down to its current size which was a normal practice in the 18th century when mounting Chinese vases (which were sometimes broken during transport). As stated in the catalogue, the porcelain retains traces of original pattern of gilt decoration which is now entirely rubbed. The inside of upper rim has been shaved down slightly to accommodate a lid which is now lacking. Underside panel to bottom of vase mount replaced.
