The Sceaux manufactory was established in the Paris region in 1748 by Jacques Chapelle. Though its faience production is well known, there are far fewer examples of their porcelain creations, and to have an entire porcelain tea set by the manufactory is quite rare. For a related flower-encrusted socketed cup and saucer by Sceaux, see E.A. Williams, ed., Daily Pleasures, French Ceramics from the MaryLou Boone Collection, Los Angeles, 2012, pp. 334-335, no. 110.
