The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
CASE: The case with repairs and replacements to the veneers and mouldings. The bottom board and bun feet are later. The domed hood with replaced frets and the dome probably repaired or replaced. One of the brackets to the underside of the top bracket is later replaced. Part of the moulding also later.
DIAL: 513⁄16 in. square brass dial. The chapter ring has no visible signs of silvering. The nose and hair of the two lower cherub spandrels are rubbed. This is due to the movement sitting too far forward and the spandrels rubbing the glass. Marks visible on glass. Dial is tarnished.
MOVEMENT: The pinions are worn and the number 2 section of the count wheel is replaced. The bell stand is repaired or a replacement; its foot is brass. The bell is a possible replacement. The wooden rope pulley is a replacement and too large. The case seatboard has been cut to allow it to pass through. Weight and counter-weight are replacements. Overall with rope dust. Requires a service.
With later lead weight and lead ring counterweight, single brass pulley. Case key. Requires a winding key.
