The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
CASE: The ebony veneered case with some shrinkage evident about handle pad and cushion top. General light scuffs and abrasions, some shrinkage and splitting to veneers as to be expected. The front door hinges; the upper one with screws and an old repair, the lower pinned. The rear door formerly with escutcheon about key hole, now lacking, with filled holes evident and a small repair to the moulded edge. The handle with light tarnishing. The front mount to cushion moulding also with light tarnishing. The sides mounts with some cracking, the right hand side one with small losses to the edges.
DIAL: the dial is fairly tidy and the chapter ring is a little tarnished. The hands appear to be well made replacements. The two dial feet to the IX side have replacement latches. They have previously been secured with taper pins.
MOVEMENT: The plates have a few plugged holes and a replaced section to the top of the back plate from when it was converted to recoil anchor escapement. The contrate wheel, crown wheel, top and bottom potance, verge pallets, rod and bob, backcock, backcock screws and pendulum hold-fast are replacements. The top section of the larger bell stand has been replaced. The 24 hour wheel is a possible replacement. One lower front plate latch is a replacement and was previously secured with a taper pin. The clock is all functioning and would benefit from a service.
With a later winding key and case key.
