A number of back burn marks on the shelf in front of the marquetry panels, where a candle has previously been positioned.
The lower part of the headboard has visible iron bolts on the outer uprights which are securing the upper section to it.
A number of patches around the framework for previous fittings.
The headboard reduced to give additional height, furhter evidence of alteration to the top corners.
The sunken panel to the canopy with separation to the noins due to shirnkage.
The top and bottom section of the headboard are 17th centry but associated, the end posts are predominantly 17th century but with later parts.
The panelled canopy is 17th century but the frieze and ornice are later.
The bedframe appears to be 17th century with modern slatting.
Evidence of historic woodworm, now inactive.
