Lot Essay

This vase was photographed in a niche above the fireplace in the dining room of Denton Manor, a large house built in the Tudor revival style by the renowned architect Sir Arthur Blomfield from 1879-1883.
The manor was rebuilt after a fire in 1906 but a second fire in 1938 led to its demolition since when the vase has remained in the family collection.
