Lot Essay

The present bust is after the marble commissioned by Queen Alexandra in 1908 which was originally created as a memorial for Fredensborg Palace Gardens and currently resides in the Grand Entrance & Marble Hall at Buckingham Palace (RCIN 2036). The artists made several copies of this bust in bronze including the present example.
