A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
These elegant library armchairs are in overall good condition. There are the inevitable marks, chips and scratches consistent with age and use. The later green damask upholstery is in excellent condition with only a few very minor scuffs and marks. The mahogany with some patches of sun fading, some chips and scuffs, particularly to the legs and some staining to the tops of the arms. Chair B with a spliced repair to the right stretcher. The underside with later blocks and webbing. The rails with evidence of previous upholstery. Traces of historic, apparently inactive woodworm to the underside. Otherwise, structurally sound and ready to use.
