Each large beveled plate surmounted by a swan's neck cresting and cartouche finials, the sides with pendant acorn and oak leaves, the scroll base with a pair of brass candlearms cast with masks and with gadrooned backplates, the cartouches probably replaced

Lot Essay

This pair of mirrors formerly belonged to the famous American socialite and fashion icon Countess Mona von Bismarck (1897-1983). Her five husbands included Harrison Williams, then said to be the richest man in America, and Count Albrecht Eduard von Bismarck-Schönhausen, a grandson of German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck. Throughout her life she had residences in Paris, Capri, New York, and Palm Beach, among others, which housed her world-class collection of art and objets.
