Fragments from the lower border of a tapestry of the Mythological Subjects after Raphael and after Giulio Romano relate closely to the present lot. Woven at the Gobelins ateliers from 1687-91 for Louis XIV after designs by Jean Lemoine de Lorrain, Claude Guy Hallé, and Bon Boulogne, the Mythological Subjects depicts preparations for tapestry making with an identical parquetry background and are illustrated in E. Standen, European Post-Medieval Tapestries and Related Hangings in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Vol. I, New York, 1989, p. 292.
