There are the inevitable marks, dents, cracks, shrinkage cracks and rubbing due to age and use.
Clock :
The clock from the Napoleon III period. The feet are associated with some traces of former holes now refilled.
Dial : with some traces of dirt and some minor chips to the enamel. The gilding of the dial is rubbed, especially to the external part.
Gilding : The two leaves are probably later.
With some signs of tarnishing to the exposed areas: to the drapery and to the both figures.
There are some minor casting flaws especially to the front and the left part of the drapery.
The balance of the allegorical figure is missing.
One minor ormolu element is missing to the front left foot.
Two screws are missing, one to the left drapery and one to the front one.
Marquetery : with some losses and restorations to the tortoiseshell. There are some very minor flaking areas to the brass inlaid especially to the top.
Pedestal :
As stated in the catalogue, the pedestal is from the Louis XVI period, otherwise with transformations in construction.
Some areas have been re-veneered with ebony especially to both upright and to both sides of the base.
Ormolu mounts : some elements are from Napoleon III period : the grids (and the frames of the grids), the frieze of the front door and the central rosettes of the base.
The gilding is later. There are some minor rubbed and tarnished areas especially to the upper frieze of the base.
There are some black spots and traces oxidation especially to the upper part and to the grids.
Marquetery : from the Louis XIV period. With restorations and minor losses. There are some minor cracks to the tortoiseshell as expected.
Tinted horn : with some minor restorations and losses with some yellowish areas.
