The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In addition to the catalogue entry:
- lacking the title and justification pages and the portfolio box
One print (Seen), examined out of the frame, the others examined under a raking light.
We:
- the red letters possibly slightly attenuated, the blue slightly attenuated (compared to the set in the Whitney)
Be:
- the pale pink of the right image slightly attenuated (compared to the set in the Whitney)
Seen (examined out of the frame):
- the full sheet
- the red letters possibly slightly attenuated (compared to the set in the Whitney)
- with pale brown time-staining at the sheet edges
- an occasional very soft scuff in places visible in the red, such as in the 'n'
And:
- vertical and horizontal 'scratches' across the center of the image, consistent with other examples. These marks correspond to the overlapping of the sheets of silver leaf appliqué (associated with the production, and not a condition issue)
- some tiny gaps in the silver leaf with the lower printed layer showing through, such as a small circular spot above the thumb and some tiny spots near the left sheet edge (likely associated with the production)
Heard:
- the fluorescent pink of 'heard' fully attenuated, the blue slightly attenuated (compared to the set in the Whitney)
- some of the frames with some very tiny and unobtrusive chips in the red paint at the edges, with the white ground showing through
Otherwise as described and apparently in good condition.
Each framed (with glass).
