Dated 1817, this is part of a group of views of Lambeth executed over a two year period (see lot 112). The pub depicted here appears to be one on Brixton Hill, later the White Horse, which is still extant. For a note on the artist, please see lot 43.

The sheet is not laid down but is tipped into a supporrting sheet and hinged into a non-acidic mount. The sheet is in good condition overall, with some very light superficial dirt, and the colours are strong and fresh and it could be hung without further attention.
