A greeting to Maja from Zurich.

Einstein transforms the rather formal printed message 'Gruß aus Zürich' (a greeting from Zurich) with the playful addition 'Einen Saftigen' ('a juicy one').

Einstein had been studying at the Polytechnic in Zurich since October 1896: the classes had resumed on 3 January 1898 after the winter vacation. The 16-year old Maja (here most formally addressed by her official name of Maria) was attending the German International School in Milan, where she had moved with their parents in 1894.
