'I haven't completed much work recently, but I'm living a quiet and contented life'.

Einstein is leaving the next day to visit Paul Ehrenfest in Leiden: 'I am much looking forward to seeing my colleagues there, and to the discussions. Nordström is also in Leiden. I haven't completed much work recently, but I'm living a quiet and contented life, so that's already something'. After some enquiries about Besso's own situation, Einstein expresses hopes that they will see each other the next spring: 'And yet I hesitate to imagine that I will travel back to Zurich. My last trip had the consequence that Albert [Hans Albert, Einstein's elder son] no longer replies to my letters'.
