A trip to the consulate, an experimental calculation, and a book recommendation.

Einstein is to arrive in Zurich on the 10.28 train, and will go straight to the consulate (to sort out his visa arrangements, which had cost him a two-day delay at the border during his previous trip). He has enjoyed his stay in Lucerne, and sends a good report of Paul Winteler (married to his sister, Maja). 'I calculated during the journey that the deflection must grow by about 6cm at each swing, using the experimental arrangement at the Phys[ical] Institute'. He ends with a recommendation of a book: 'Don't forget to sniff out the book by Mann; it's worth it'.
