Large-format photograph signed ('Leon Tolstoy') and inscribed to Robert Scheffer, Moscow, 3 December 1889.

The image by Scherer Nabholz & Co. (blindstamp), oval 223 x 172, mount 303 x 255mm. Inscribed in French on the mount, 'En souvenir d'une bonne soirée passée' ('In memory of a pleasant evening').

An imposing, large photograph signed. The recipient, Robert Scheffer (1859-1934) was an Austrian painter.
