In Russian. One page, 181 x 112mm. Provenance: Stargardt, 23/24 Nov 2004, lot 309.

Intervening to help the writer Fedor Fedorovich Tishchenko. 'I am writing to you because of the letter from Tishchenko, who is in great need and wishes very much to receive at least a part of the fee promised to him by you for his short story ... It is regrettable that some passages have been cancelled, presumably by the censor'.

The recipient, L.Y. Gurovich (1866-1940) has been described as Russia's most important female literary journalist. At this date she was publisher and editor in chief of the leading Symbolist journal Severny Westnik.
