The image by Studio-Iris, 32 rue de la Boëtie, Paris, 180 x 119mm. Inscribed in French in white ink on the image, also noting the date of the portrait: Paris, February 1936.

Bunin in 1936. The writer is at the peak of his reputation: a Nobel Laureate in 1933, his complete works in 11 volumes had been published by Petropolis in Berlin over the years 1934-36.
