Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev (1818-1883)
A last-minute request. n.d.
Autograph letter signed ('I. Tourguéneff') to an unidentified friend ('Mon cher ami'), 210 rue de Rivoli, [Paris], 'Dimanche soir', n.d. [1860-64].

In French. Two pages, 135 x 104mm, on a bifolium.

A last-minute request. 'I am very foolish to come and ask you at the last minute for something, about which people have probably been bending your ear all this time; but if you have the slightest gap tomorrow evening into which I could fit, I would be as much obliged as possible; – if there is not even the slightest gap, I will feel horribly guilty. In any case, you will do what you can and I am grateful whatever you do'.
