Tourguéneff / Bougival / 1873.’ Torrents of Spring ‘is a story of quite extraordinary haunting beauty, constructed with consummate skill [...] It is also of more than usual significance in revealing Turgenev's mind and thought and intimate emotions' (Schapiro).
