A Manchu official of the late Qing period, Duan Fang (1861-1911) was passionate about calligraphy, epigraphy and paintings. He started collecting bronze vessels, stone inscriptions and rubbings at the age of 24 and published Record of Stone Collection, Epigraphic Collection of Tao Zhai, etc.
