SPECIALIST'S NOTES
Zhang Wentao (1764-1814), courtesy name Zhongye, sobriquet Chuanshan, was a native of Suining, Sichuan province. His calligraphy shows the influence of Mi Fu, while his painting reflects the syle of Xu Wei. He was good at painting flowers and birds and figures.
