Lot Essay

The recipient of this painting is Cheng Ming. Cheng, sobriquet Bu’an, was born in Hong Kong in 1949. He received a scholarship to study in Taiwan in 1969. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of National Taiwan Normal University in 1973. He returned to Hong Kong in the same year and taught at The Swire School of Design in the Hong Kong Polytechnic , the Continuing Education Department of the University of Hong Kong and Chinese University Hong Kong. He had been teaching in the Department of Art of the Chinese University of Hong Kong for about 20 years since 1977.
