The second (first published) edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, with blue endpapers and the inverted 'S' in the last line of the Contents page; with the first edition of Through the Looking Glass with "wade" instead of "wave" on p. 21, pp. 95 and 98 numbered, and black endpapers. Williams & Madan 33, 67.

Two volumes, quarto and octavo (191 x 125mm and 183 x 120mm). Half titles, frontispieces. (First book with some spotting internally, crack to text block with repairs at inner margin of one gathering, and a few repaired closed tears at outer margins.) Original red cloth stamped in gilt, all edges gilt (first book with a little rippling and light rubbing to cloth, slight lean to spine; second book with more pronounced rippling to cloth, some scuffing, spine rubbed, wear to joints and spine ends). Provenance: W.M.A.L. Booth (inscription).
