THE NEW YORK TRILOGY. A very fine set of first editions, all signed by Auster on the title pages. Auster's inventive use of the detective form in these three loosely connected novellas established his reputation with readers. His first book was The Invention of Solitude, a memoir, published in 1982 to great acclaim.

Three volumes, octavo. Original blue cloth stamped in gilt. Pictorial dust-jackets.
