EDISON, Thomas (1847–1931). A collection of three letters [including:] Autograph letter signed ("Thomas A Edison") , Orange, 6 February 1899. One page, 190 x 212mm, (original mailing folds, fold through signature, minor foxing, previous framing adhesive on reverse, tear along center mailing fold, small holes on crease edges). Regarding the employment of Mr. M Dally. Dally had worked at the laboratory for seven years and was highly regarded by Edison, "He is a first class man, steady, and reliable". Dally is thought to be one of the earliest human deaths from X-ray exposure after working on the Edison X-ray focus tube. * Typed letter signed ("Thomas A Edison") to Charles Schwager, Orange, 9 June 1926. One page, 276 x 214 mm, on letterhead of the Laboratory of Thomas Edison (light original mailing folds, slight discoloration around photograph). Edison declines an invitation to join the Woodrow Wilson Young Men's and Young Ladies' Club citing his advanced age and desire to withdraw from public affairs: "I am now in my 80th year, with many heavy burdens on my shoulders, and I am withdrawing as much as possible from affairs of a public nature." * Autograph note signed ("Edison") to "Blinne", n.d. In pencil. One page, 200 x 125 mm, (light original mailing folds, toned, marginal tears). "Come over & see me about Viley's Records–"
