詳情
HEMINGWAY, Ernest (1899-1961). Typed letter signed ("Ernest Hemingway") to Roy, Toronto, 16 February 1920.

One leaf, 2 pp., 276 x 213mm on Toronto Daily Star letterhead (faded, creases, a few spots of dustsoiling).

A young Hemingway writes about Toronto and his work. He mentions in part: "This is a pretty good town. About half a million inmates, one good paper, on whose stationery I'm writing. Several bum papers. A mayor and a police force and everything. I'm writing feature stuff for the Sunday side, they call it the weekly, and so far have kept from being thrown out of the office. ... Meanwhile I'm making good money and getting more experience and doing a lot of writing. Do most of my work at home on the Corona and show at the office when I damned please..." He reports on some mutual friends, and asks after others.
