First edition. Boswell entered Italy on 6 January 1765, visiting Corsica in October and November, and there conversing at length with General Pasquale de Paoli, leader of the Corsican rebels against the Genoese and French. With the map in the first state, without imprint. Rothschild 442.

Octavo (200 x 120mm). Half-title, folding map (tear to map, reinforced on verso). Contemporary calf, red morocco spine label (rebacked).
