Two parts bound together, folio (438 x 298mm). Two engraved title pages, the first after Bernard Picart, the second by G.A. Muller after G. Hoet. 213 engraved plates, 29 of which are folding, by A. de Blois, J. Mulder, J. van Vianen, G. Vander Gouwen, A. van Buisen, Folkema and others after B. Picart (68), G. Hoet, E. le Sueur, A. Houbraken and others, each with captions in 6 languages (a few plates lightly browned, I plate with marginal repair at fold, minor foxing to a few margins). Early nineteenth-century calf gilt, all edges gilt (rebacked with original spine preserved, repaired at corners). Provenance: A. Fenwyke (armorial bookplate) – Arthur Haddaway (ownership inscription dated 1947, his sale, Christie's New York, 25 September 1981).
