BIBLE, in Latin. Table by Gabriel Brunus. Edited by Petrusangelus de Monte Ulmi. Venice: Hieronymus de Paganinis, 7 September 1497.

The third octavo Bible. A year after the appearance of Froben's octavo "Bibliola," Paganinis printed his own small format Bible, which he then followed up five years later with this re-issue. Paganinis’s incunable octavo Bibles also contain the first appearance of Brunus’s alphabetical table of contents. Goff B-601; Bod-inc B-309; BMC V 459; BSB-Ink B-478; GW 4278; ISTC ib00601000.

Median octavo (171 x 112mm). 513 leaves [of 514, lacking preface leaf a1]. Woodcut of Saint Peter on first leaf (some dustsoiling, dampstains, and other marks, a few small repairs to blank areas). 19th-century blind-ruled calf, edges speckled red (top of spine renewed, top joint split through). Provenance: occasional marginal notes - Madame Sherman (gift inscription dated 31 December [18]55).
