Ida Ekblad takes nomadic ‘drifts’ around cities exposing herself to the pop culture aesthetic of graffiti and cartoons. These experiences are given new life in her paintings with fantastical, almost surrealist imagery. Her practice is based upon chance, which is reflected in both her compositional spontaneity, and featured in her choice of often unconventional media, such as spray paint and puff paint, whose effects upon the canvas are often unpredictable. Juxtaposing organic curvilinear forms with a grungy street-art stimulus, Untitled (Toddler) exemplifies Ekblad’s continuous creative experimentation and infectious artistic fervor.

The linen, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There are a few linear areas of faint rubbing to the lower left and left vertical edges. When examined under ultra-violet light, there is no indication of inpainting. Subject to the above, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally very good condition.
