拍品的状况可能存在极大差异，而由于其性质使然，拍品难以处于完美无瑕的状态。拍品均以拍卖时的状况出售。

(i) The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There is some pinpoint rubbing to the extreme corners. There are a few pinpoint pinpoint accretions to the black passages, only visible under strong raking light. When examined under ultraviolet light there appears to be no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally very good condition.
(ii) The canvas stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There is some pinpoint rubbing to the upper right and lower left corners. There are two pinpoint accretions to the lower left horizontal edge and upper centre. There is a pinpoint paint loss with associated minor lifting to the lower right quadrant. When examined under ultraviolet light there appears to be no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally very good condition.
