A pair of documents related to Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson’s (1887-1946) unconditional release from the Washington Senators. Includes: a typewritten letter dated Oct. 15th, 1927 on Washington American League Base Ball Club stationary in which Senators President and Hall of Famer Clark Griffith (1869-1955) writes to Johnson reluctantly granting him an unconditional release, signed by Griffith in blue ink; and the official Notice to Player of Release or Transfer document, made out to Johnson and dated Nov. 5th, 1927, also signed by Griffith, in black ink. Overall Excellent condition. Both documents are glued to scrapbook paper and originate from the Collection of Walter Johnson.
