The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Minor frame abrasion to the extreme edges with traces of gold pigment. This work was examined under ultraviolet light and out of the frame. The canvas is not lined. There is a fine, all-over surface craquelure and some minor undulation in the canvas surface, but the paint layer is stable and secure. Inspection under UV light reveals that some of the artist’s original dark pigments fluoresce strongly, but these do not appear to correspond to inpainting. There is a small area of inpainting directly to the left of the signature and minor inpainting to the edges to address frame abrasion.
