拍品专文
To be included in the catalogue of the paintings of Man Ray being prepared by Andrew Strauss and Timothy Baum.
The present work was painted in 1958, just a few years after Man Ray returned to Paris from America. The dynamic composition is inspired by the artist's lifelong interest in geometry and is formed by three intersecting shapes suggesting a bird.
'I was trying to destroy certain traditions, to leave the field clear again for a new approach to things’. Man Ray quoted in A. Schwarz, Man Ray: The Rigour of Imagination, New York, 1977, p. 59.

Oil on canvas. Not lined. Minor frame abrasion and associated small paint losses. Some fine craquelure in places. Examined under ultra-violet light: nothing shows. Subject to the foregoing it is our opinion that the work appears to be in generally very good condition.
The condition of lots sold can vary widely due to factors such as age, previous damage, restoration, repair, and wear and tear. The nature of the lots sold means that they will rarely be in perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
