Lakshmana comforts a despondent Rama after Sita’s abduction. Ravana had just taken Sita from Panchavati, the paradise valley in the heart of the Dandaka forest, to his kingdom of Lanka. Rama, now living as a hermit, builds up his hope as he becomes determined to travel to Lanka and rescue Sita. Their abode in Panchavati is paradisaical, with golden skies, a lotus-filled stream and forested land abound with lush floral splays.
