VARIOUS ARTISTS (EDO-MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY)
A group of six surimono prints
Woodblock print surimono, comprising:
‌1) Kubo Shunman (1757-1820), Juyon dan (Episode 14), embellished with silver pigment and embossing, from the series Asakusagawa Tsurezuregusa (Essays in idleness for the Asakusa Group), signed Shunman sei, circa 1813-17
‌2) Totoya Hokkei (1780-1850), Trained Monkey Performing with Jingle and Gohei, embellished with metallic pigments and embossing, signed Hokkei, 1824
‌3) Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858), Gourd-shape Flask and Plum Blossoms, signed Kinoeuma toshi Hiroshige seihitsu (in 1834 sincerely by Hiroshige)
‌4) Morimura Hogi (1805-1862), Fruit Basket, embellished with metallic pigments, sealed Hogi
‌5) Shibata Zeshin (1807-1891), Morning Glory, signed Zeshin and sealed Shin, dated 1873
‌6) Anonymous (late 19th Century), Winter Village, sealed Ho and Ko, dated 1st month 1899

1) Shikishiban surimono: 758 x 7 in. (19.4 x 17.8 cm.)
2‌) Shikishiban surimono: 8 x 678 in. (20.3 x 17.5 cm.)
3‌) Shikishiban surimono: 878 x 7 in. (22.5 x 17.8 cm.)
‌4) Shikishiban surimono: 818 x 714 in. (20.6 x 18.5 cm.)
‌5) Horizontal nagaban surimono: 738 x 2118 in. (18.6 x 53.7 cm.)
‌6): Horizontal chuban surimono: 858 x 1114 in. (21.9 x 28.6 cm.)
