Lot Essay

The Mito school metal artist, Kawakami Katsutoshi first apprenticed to the great artist, Hagiya Katsuhira (1804-1886). He moved to Hongo, Tokyo at the beginning of Meiji period and became the president of Nihon Kinko Kyokai (Japan Society of Metal artists).
