The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Vase 1: 5 cm crescent shaped over-painted restored section to upper rim of neck. Approx. 25 cm branching restored crack to upper body and shoulder with over-painting to enamels and discoloured re-gilding. On the opposing side a large oval section running from shoulder to base with over-painting and re-gilding probably to disguise a section that has been broken out and restored; this has been heavily re-painted/sprayed on the interior.
The cover with re-stuck crescent shaped sections to one third of the rim, with associated over-painting, the flange completely restored.
Vase 2: restoration to approx. half of the diameter of the upper rim with over-painting and re-gilding, probably to disguise a section broken out and re-stuck. Restored crack running from the upper rim down the shoulder and in a curve around at least half of the body and extending in the other direction around the shoulder, with associated over-painting and re-gilding and spray to the interior.
The cover broken into at least three pieces and re-stuck with associated over-painting and re-gilding and spray to the underside; some restoration to the lower part of the finial.
Overall some minor wear to gilding and enamels, please note the finial of one is decorated in iron red and gilding only, while the other also has pink yellow and blue.
