Provenance
As per family tradition, the emerald was given to Sir Harford Jones-Brydges (1764 - 1847) by the Persian Fath Ali Shah for services rendered when Sir Harford was Ambassador in Persia from 1807 to 1811 and it was set as a brooch in the late 19th Century.
