Lot Essay

The topmost citrines seen in these Marina B earrings are an example of the designer’s signature cut, dubbed ‘The Chestnut’. First developed in 1980, the chestnut is an often-utilized shape in Marina B jewels. Halfway between a triangle and a pear, the chestnut shape visually provides a blend of feminine curves and graphic lines for which Marina B’s designs are celebrated. Not limited to just gemstone use, Marina B mimics the chestnut shape in metal in the ‘Trisola’ collection. So iconic to her style, the chestnut is equally referred to as the Marina B cut.
