Since establishing the New York-based high-jewelry house 'Taffin' in 1996, James Taffin de Givenchy has left an indelible mark on his family's legacy of promoting innovation in the realm of luxury. As a nephew of the esteemed fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy, James de Givenchy gained extensive exposure to design and aesthetics during his childhood in Beauvais, a suburb north of Paris. In his early adulthood, he departed France for New York in search of further artistic inspiration, where he developed an unwavering passion for jewelry. Through his experiences in the auction world, he was captivated by the relentless artistic possibilities of jewelry production across eras, inspiring him to firsthand create jewelry later in his career.

In James de Givenchy’s artistic endeavors, there are no boundaries for materiality. Taffin frequently incorporates a variety of unconventional materials into its creations, evoking an unexpected sense of harmony. Bold-colored hardstones such as chalcedony, cocholong and coral engage in dialogue with materials as diverse as steel and rubber. These combinations of materials are meticulously chosen to accentuate the vibrancy of bold stones, maximizing the inherent beauty of each. Taffin’s craftsmanship allows these elements to come together in inventive sculptural designs, each generating a story unique to the piece.
