The present lot is from the collection of Doris Merrill Magowan (1914-2001), daughter of Charles Edward Merrill, co-founder of Merrill Lynch. Mrs. Merrill Magowan was widely recognized for her philanthropic endeavors in the arts. Her exquisite collection of decorative objects and furniture was sold at Christie’s in 2002.
