Nel 1954 Rolex lancia il modello GMT-Master così da fornire ai piloti un orologio che potesse leggere 24 ore di uno specifico fuso orario. Questo esemplare in particolare è del 1989 e presenta anche un quadrante per la funzione della data. Questi modelli con referenza 16713 sono stati fatti con due toni di colori contrapposti al modello in acciaio GMT referenza 16170 di quel periodo. All’interno della cassa sul retro è inciso 16170. Il modello GMT Master è un grande orologio per tutti i giorni con una complicazione molto utile.

Rolex launched the GMT-Master in 1954 in order to provide pilots a watch that could read 24 hour time for a selected time zone. This specific example is from 1989 and features a quickset date function. These reference 16713 models were the two-tone counterpart of the stainless steel GMT reference 16710 of this period. The inside case back is stamped 16710. The GMT Master is a great everyday watch with a useful complication.
