Lot Essay

Regarded as one of the foremost watchmakers of the 20th century, Edmond Jaeger maintained a close relationship with Cartier, becoming its exclusive supplier in 1907, a partnership renewed in 1919. He produced nearly all of the watches retailed by Cartier during the first three decades of the century. His collaboration with Antoine LeCoultre on the development of ultra-thin movements laid the foundations for the creation of Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1937.
